The World Migratory Bird Day is celebrated twice every year: during Spring and Autumn, the main periods for bird migration in the Northern hemisphere!
The programme for the events in Lesvos is as follows:
- Saturday, 8/10, from 17:00 to19:00, guided birdwatching at the Kalloni Salt Pans
Meet us at the birdhide of the NE corner of the Kalloni Pans at 17:00 or 18:00.
- Sunday, 9/10, from 10:00 to 13:00, guided birdwatching at the Polichnitos Salt Pans
Meet us at the south corner of the POlichnitos Salt Pans (Skala Polichnitos side) at 10:00 or 11:00 or 12:00.
The events are organised by the Lesvos Petrified Forest Museum, Greek Ornothologicla Society, Hellenic Bird Ringing Center and supported by the Municipality of Western Lesvos and the Northern Aegean Prefecture (North Aegean Operational Programme 2014-2020, for the project "Wetlands of Western Lesvos").
